“Intense” is a word that describes not only this couple’s board game strategy, but more importantly, their love for one another. After our 3 hour drive away from the big city of Chicago, we found ourselves near the Illinois-Iowa border in a rehabbed rustic barn surrounded by endless rolling fields of corn, what we decided must be onions, and the friendliest group of goats we had ever met. Our hosts and soon-to-be newlyweds waved us in from the wide-open barn doors looking so happy, nothing could ruin their day. Emily, in a cute tea-length white strapless number with a rockin’ pair of cowboy boots. Eric, in an outfit only he could pull off in navy shorts, suspenders, and a yellow bow tie. No wonder she couldn’t keep her eyes off him all day.
As the guests sat on a sloping grassy hill that led to a lush weeping willow tree that looked like it came off a movie set, the neighboring goats decided to come see what all the commotion was about – perhaps the guitarist was some kind of goat whisperer –and stood front and center to watch Emily and Eric exchange their handwritten vows. Although Emily had practiced her speech literally a jillion times the night before, she was still nervous she was going to flub through it, but of course, she was perfect and had everyone dabbing their eyes, especially Eric. As Eric promised to always take care of Emily through thick and thin, the tears flowed and as they mixed their wine glasses together, they sealed their covenant to begin the party of life together, as one, forever and ever.
We couldn’t have been more honored to be a part of Emily and Eric’s wedding and to capture their first moments as husband and wife. Monica was definitely trying to keep her tears from making her mascara run.
As always, keep it classy.
